Oxford’s 2023 Word of The Year: “Rizz”

Gen Z slang is officially making its way up. Rizz has been named Oxford’s word of the year 2023, beating a few of the other popular slangs including “swiftie” a term used by Taylor Swift fans and “situationship” a romantic or sexual relationship that is not formal. A shortened form of the word charisma, rizz is defined as “style, charm or attractiveness” or “the ability to attract a romantic or sexual partner.” It can also be used as a verb, such as to “rizz up” a person, which means to attract, seduce or chat them up.
